With the Divine theme, it is easy to create different menus. You can add content with collections, banners, product lists, etc. All this will help you to design your website navigation according to the best practices.
Our template enables the creation of 3 main types of menus: megamenu, small, and slideout menus.
First, let's look at the general configuration settings for navigation menus using the Divine theme. Go to the Online Store - Header and scroll down to the Navigation. Let's say that you have already added menu items to your online store.
So you keep configuring menu details. The Divine template allows you to:
- Choose the menu you want to be shown as ‘Main Menu’.
- Enable the slideout menu.
- Or choose between a mega menu or a small menu.
- Enter the mega menu items' names comma-separated.
- Enter the small menu items name comma-separated.
- Activate the top-level menu by hovering or on click.
- Show the collection icon in the menu.
- Select the collection icon image and set its width.
You may see that when you enable the mega menu option, it is possible to configure the next details:
- Set up the number of main items per row.
- Limit the number of categories to show.
- Show the link Shop All.
Why choose a small menu?
Usually, the small menu is a horizontal navigation menu. Once the visitor clicks (hovers) the menu icon, the action reveals a submenu with additional options. At the same time, you save the page space while still offering important paths for your visitors.
If you're running a small shop that has between five and twenty items, you can choose a small menu as the dropdown menu type. Then your website's menu structure will be simple and still enough to direct users to important pages.
If you run content-rich online stores, we recommend choosing a mega menu for your website.
Why choose a mega menu?
The mega menu is slightly larger than the small menu. It can contain columns with secondary submenus, banners, and many links to products, collections, webpages, articles, etc.
If you run a big shop with vast content or website areas, you should choose a mega menu as the dropdown menu type. The Divine theme allows for the creation of different mega menus. It is possible to:
- Show the only collection list in the top menu
- Show the only banner image in the top menu
- Show menu links and the collection list
- Show the only product list in the top menu
- Show dropdown menu links with the banner image
- Show menu links only
Why choose a slideout menu?
The slideout menu is a famous hamburger menu. When a visitor clicks on the hamburger icon, which is usually easily recognized, the initially hidden panel slides out from the side of the screen and shows the menu options.
Whatever store you run, a slideout menu has its benefits. The hamburger menu button is always understood. This menu helps you avoid distracting shoppers with too many options.
