With the Charge theme for Shopify, you have got badges on the product images. Users can see them on the homepage, collection page as well as in the media gallery of the product page. In the Theme Settings - Product badges you can apply different badges and customize the Text and Position values for them. You can also Show sale discounts for the Sale badges and change the border radius.
You can also hide the badges. To hide the product badges on the product page please select None from the Position dropdown.
Adding badges
It is possible to add “Sale” and “Sold out” badges and since the 1.8.0 release, you can also add "New", "Pre-order" and "Custom" product badges.
These badges are based on meta fields. So your main task is to create the meta fields with the proper next names in the Shopify Admin first.
Now do as follows:
- Go to Shopify Admin - Settings - Custom data. Here you can see the Variant metafield definition. You can add specific meta-field definitions according to your store needs. On the screenshot, you can see we have added 3 definitions for product badges: custom, new, and preorder.
- When adding a definition on your own, remember to select the Single line text as a type. Remember to save.
-
Stay in the Shopify admin area. Go to the Products and choose a product for which you want to create a meta field variant to show the badge. Scroll down to see the Variant metafields block. Click View All and you will see the new popup. Please add the definitions in the appropriate fields. Here is how it looks.
So we remind you that it is possible to set the definitions as shown below:
- Custom. Use it for the custom badges like Bestseller.
-
New. Use it for the new products.
-
Preorder. Use it for the preorder products. Make sure you have enabled the product options "Continue selling when out of stock" and "Track quantity". Then in the Buy buttons configuration of the Charge theme, you have to check the box Preorder button label.
Note: for all of them the used type is a "Single line text". You should remember that the badges will be definitely rendered if the meta fields are not empty. So you can define what exactly products are Custom or New or Preorder in the product settings by entering any field value.
If you need any other help with creating a meta field, visit the manual page.
